Hello,
My name is Gus. I’m a 7 year old neutered male Rhodesian Ridgeback-Hound mix. I weigh approximately 75 pounds, and rock an amazing solid caramel colored coat, with a single white patch on my chest. I currently reside in the Village of Ballston Spa with my owner and her young daughter, and came to them as a wee pup through the Petapalooza event held at Curtis Lumber 7 years ago.
I’m up to date on all my vaccinations and have never had any chronic medical problems. I could use a few more miles on the pavement or sprints in a backyard, but overall I’m in good health. The few times I’ve visited the doc, we head to the Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic located at 365 Ballston Ave in Ballston Spa. The number there is 518-885-5650.
I love kids, and most other dogs. Cats scare me most of the time so I’ve learned to mind my own business when it comes to them. The one person that I don’t really care for is the guy/gal in the blue uniform that comes to my house seems like EVERY DAY and leaves something on the porch. Sometimes they drive a big brown truck with the letters UPS on it. I have no idea what that’s all about, but they never seem to leave me alone no matter how much I bark at them! Otherwise, I’m extremely friendly, I don’t bite, and there’s no such thing as too much petting!
I take care of my business in the woods or on walks. I’ve never been one to be confined to a crate, but much prefer free roam of the house. Admittedly, I do like a nice cozy couch or bed if given the chance, but am not suppose to be up on furniture so that doesn’t happen often (unless the bedroom door gets left open by mistake, then I’m in heaven for the day!). I get excited when we have visitors at the door, and I greet them with high energy as any good host would. I have a sturdy tail that some may see as a wagging weapon and lots of kisses to offer, but that’s the worst of it!
After talking it over for quite some time, my owner and I have decided I would probably be better off if I lived with someone who was home more often who could spend more time with me. I love to be outside and go for walks, but don’t get much of either because my owner is a single mom of a 4 1/2 year old, and runs her own business. I’ve always had healthy food to eat and a nice house to live in, just missing some good old fashion love and attention. My owners daughter was recently diagnosed with dog and cat allergies, which has made it challenging for the little lady to be comfortable in her own home.
